Shortly after I moved to CA, James and I joined his family on the semi regular trip to Bandon, OR. When I first came here almost 20 years ago, I seriously fell in love with this small town. The magic still hold true today.
Danny awoke too early this morning and I figured between James and I, one of us should get some more sleep. So Danny and I got dressed, leashed up the girls, and we took off for Old Town. We stopped by the Bandon Cafe for some much needed coffee and one of the best cherry turnovers that just melted in mouth it was so delicious. We enjoyed our breakfast treats at the Face Rock overlook, and then took the girls on a morning beach stroll.
For being 6:15 am, there was hardly anyone on the beach. The tide was starting to come back up but it was low enough that I could look around the base of some of the larger rocks to see if any star fish or sea anemones were visible (they were not). Danny and the girls played on the beach for almost an hour before James texted to say that he was awake.
We realized that none of the breakfast places (other than the coffee shop cafe) opened before 9am, so we made breakfast at camp and relaxed around the campfire.
Danny struggled today, so James and Danny worked on some school review and I took off to explore more of Bandon and to see if one of my favorite bookshops was open (alas it was not).
Old Town Bandon
Later today, when Danny and James had finished summer school lessons, we headed to Bullards Beach
