A Weekend Update

So even though we have been home since Friday night, it has been non stop all weekend, and this has been the first chance I have had to blog.

James and I both woke up at 5 am and started in earnest to unload the trailer. 4 1/2 hours later the trailer was unloaded just as the outside temperature started to reach 100 at 9:30 am.

The day promised to be busy with the endless loads of laundry and all the items we brought that now needed to be put away.

I will spare you the disaster pictures, our first floor of our home resembled an episode of hoarders.

We did have a special treat and we were able to visit with our dear friends who relocated while we were away.

Sunday, James was up early and washed the trailer down and took care of a few minor repairs.

We do have a bit of sad news to share, what we thought was an abscess in Maddie's mouth turns out to be a tumor. We will be doing everything possible to keep her comfortable with whatever time she has left. I was able to get her some antibiotics for an infection that had popped up around the tumor. Unfortunately, it is in a location where the vet knew they would not be able to get clear margins. We are heart broken and will be loving on our Maddie. The good news is that she is still eating and drinking and plays with Kiara.

Danny also was able to attend a wonderful birthday party for one of his classmates, and had brought a wonderful animal ambassador for a personal meet and greet. The owner of this amazing company takes in rescues and if the personality is a right fit, she brings the animals around to teach kids and families about these incredible creatures.

These were some of Danny's favorite moments.

Then after a pizza lunch, we headed back home for a playdate with our friends from Dixon.

The weather has been unbearably hot, (today the car told me it was 110), and we have been very grateful for the pool.

Today, the trailer is being returned, and we will have some playtime with friends.

Friday we leave before dawn for the airport to head to Pagosa Springs, CO
