Travel days feel bittersweet. I am excited to see what new adventures await just down the road to the south, but I am also sad to leave a place that I have grown to really like. Danny was up really early (ahem 6:15 am) so we were all up really early.
We took advantage of the early start and packed up the RV and so we were ready to squeeze in one last adventure by 8:45 am.
First up, the world's largest Sitka Spruce. Man, this tree was massive!!
Factoids about the World's Largest Spruce Tree
Circumference: 58 feet, 11 inches
191 feed tall
About 1000 years old!!
This is a Sitka Spruce, one of the Quinault Valley's six champion trees. The trees in the Quinault Rainforest are well watered with an average rain fall of 12 feet a year. For more information click here

The short hike to this tree was also equally beautiful.
Next on the list, was hitting the Post Office and the Rainforest Resort Village Shop, where I scored a new hat!!!
I also got a lead on a beautiful waterfall called Merriman Waterfall. If I had all the time in the world and no one else around, I would have just stayed at this waterfall all day.
After such a spectacular site of the falls, we headed back down the road as it was almost time for us to move on to our next location. We did a quick stop at the historic Quinault Lodge
Ok, now its really time to go.... one last look at the Quinault River Inn
We said see you later to this gorgeous place and drove an hour and a half south to Greyland, Washington
The name of this restaurant is Hum-Dinger which made me laugh and reminded me of one of my favorite board games, where one of the categories is Humdinger, and you have to hum the tune and your partner has to guess what song it is.
Gorgeous Native American Mural of Raven
Yes, there really is a town called Humptulips
We arrived at our site, and Danny proclaimed it amazing because it held the promise of other children to play with and we are 2 miles in either direction from a beach.
We passed the International Mermaid Museum on our way in and so of course we had to go back and check it out!!
\
The premise for the museum is there are mermaid lore all over the world, and through these placards, they told the variety of these stories and then shared the real life fish that mimicked a part of the tale.
It was very clever and well done. Admission was $3 per person, kids under 5 are free. Danny was sort of into it (there was a lot of reading) and on the way in there was a giant chess set that captured his attention and so he and James went out to go play.
There is a winery right next door that also has an excellent restaurant called the Sea Glass Grill, the food was delicious.

Tomorrow we are going to check out the light house and beach!
