Today Danny began an exciting new adventure, second grade!! With a backpack full of school supplies, lunch box, and mask, we set off for the first day!
When I picked him up this afternoon, he was so excited and had a wonderful first day:
His day involved:
Welcome and greetings from the school principal
The the kids in his class introduced themselves followed by reciting the pledge of allegiance.
His teacher read the First day, hooray!

Then to prepare for recess, the kids watched a recess video that went over the rules of the playground
Ms.
Winters showed the kids how to use the playground equipment safely
"Ladders
are up only and stairs are up only
Climbing structures
are up only
Slides
are the way down"
Recess he discovered the game of tetherball and enjoyed playing with a new friend
Then it
was lunch time and he ate most of his lunch.
Then they returned to the classroom and did a drill for the lining up in order.
Then the kids had another recess
He had a great time and he and his friend strayed a little too far on the grass area playing tag and managed to get lost! Fortunately they found another aide and who was able to guide them back to class.
Danny was thoroughly impressed when his teacher announced the question:
"The next
big question I always get is, when do we go home?"
She then put
the demonstration clock, set the time when they would be dismissed so the kids would know when it would be time to go home.
That afternoon the kids had a writing assignment, "what did you do to get ready for school?"
Danny answered: "I ate
breakfast, I grabbed my pencil holder, put everything in my backpack, and
walked out the door"
Then it was time to line up to go home!
Many more adventures to follow, but I wanted to capture this day as it is the first day of what feels like something normal.
